DAY 1: AL HAIL (Arrival)Arrival at Al Hail airport or train station. After formalities, you will be able to direct yourself to pick up your car at the BUDGET outlet downtown Hail. After the car formalities are done, you will receive the keys and be ready to discover the region. Drive to your hotel, check in, and overnight in Hail.
DAY 2: HAIL Discovery (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Renowned for its hospitable people, Hail is traditionally the home of Saudi Arabia’s poets and writers. An interesting point about Hail is that most early European explorers passed through this city during the 19th century, including Charles Doughty, Lady Blunt, Charles Huber, and Julius Euting.
Today, enjoy discovering the city and its surroundings, including the A’Arif Fort and the nearby heritage museum. Then have a walk at the traditional market where you will meet the local delicacies. Pass also by the Hail Regional Museum, and if open, take time to admire its collection. Overnight in Hail.
DAY 3: HAIL – JUBBAH – HAIL (Departure) (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, start your journey to Jubbah, located on an ancient lake. Several archaeological sites of human settlement from the Middle Paleolithic period were found around the margin of the paleolake.
Jubbah is surrounded by large sandstone outcrops filled with ancient petroglyphs and inscriptions carved into the rock face. Jubbah benefited from past human habitation and a savannah-like environment with large lakes where wildlife thrived.
If the animals that once lived here became extinct due to desertification starting in the 6th millennium BCE, humans adapted by fixing their presence in Jubbah through carvings of aurochs, cheetahs, lions, and other wildlife. These drawings are still visible today on sandstone outcrops such as Jebel Umm Saman.
Jubbah and Shuwaymis, the other major carving site of Hail Province, were listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2015 for their numerous petroglyph panels and rich inscriptions.
In the afternoon, drive back for your departure. Return the car to BUDGET and proceed to the airport or train station.
