King Abdulaziz Center for Arabian Horses

An Authentic Legacy and Continuous Preservation

The history of Arabian horses runs deep in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula since ancient times, emerging from this pure land as a true symbol of dignity and horsemanship. A strong bond was formed with them, characterized by loyalty and pride.

In every corner of the Arabian Peninsula, a heritage lives on, narrating chapters of glory and history, granting Arabian horses a prestigious place in the hearts of their admirers across the world.

These horses have combined strength and beauty, making them an essential element in various aspects of life, from horsemanship and sports to battlefields and military campaigns. Human history itself bears the unmistakable imprint of these noble horses.

Within the framework of the wise vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which places great importance on this heritage, the King Abdulaziz Center for Arabian Horses was established in the city of Riyadh as a prominent landmark reflecting the state’s commitment to preserving this rich legacy.

The center is located in the Dirab Equestrian area, one of the most prominent agricultural regions, approximately 35 kilometers south of Riyadh. It was established in 1384 AH on an area exceeding one million square meters, making it one of the key landmarks that enhance the heritage of Arabian horses.

The primary objective behind establishing the center was to preserve purebred Arabian horses, protect them, and provide meticulous care to prevent their extinction. The center serves as a destination for all enthusiasts in this field, housing horses that date back to the era of the founder, in addition to a large collection of Arabian horses representing diverse bloodlines. This contributes to improving breeding practices and preserving the authentic traits rooted in the historical origins of the Arabian Peninsula.

The center currently takes pride in owning approximately 150 purebred Arabian horses, while the number of horse owners in Saudi Arabia reaches around 3,300. The number of registered horses in Saudi Arabia and recorded at the center is approximately 8,421. The center’s role is not limited to caring for horses within Saudi Arabia; it extends internationally by supporting owners and professionals in the field, participating in global equestrian events and competitions, applying the highest international standards in horse care and registration, and supervising registration processes in cooperation with international authorities.

Furthermore, the center is an active member of the European Conference of Arab Horse Organizations, which oversees Arabian horse beauty competitions and establishes regulations governing Arabian horse bloodlines worldwide. The center’s efforts are not confined to this aspect alone but also include caring for pure Saudi desert horses, which represent an inseparable part of Saudi identity.

The center houses a distinguished collection of horses from Hamdani, Kuhailan, and Saqlawi bloodlines. It also follows up on imported horses from various regions of Saudi Arabia, registers them with internationally accredited organizations, and provides specialized technical consultations to horse owners in the Kingdom, reaffirming its leading role in preserving this national heritage.
